What Marvel is doing right and DC is doing wrong:

      The interests for Superhero movies has grown exponentially over the past years. The Marvel franchise leading in the area of superheroes like Iron Man, Thor and the Avengers. The DC Universe has also produced great movies in their franchise including the Dark Knight Trilogy. Though the three-part Batman series did well and made history, DC has been struggling with building their universe on the big screen.

     As a DC fan it is hard to see this happen for numerous reasons. One of the biggest being that people are losing interest and faith in DC that they can produce good, live-action movies. 

     The reason that Marvel is excelling where DC isn’t is simple they are taking their time and doing it right. 

     The benefits of doing this is the build the universe intricately. They built the main characters with several of their own movies first and then brought them together leaving bread crumbs all the way giving hints of what’s to come. By doing this you have the entire story laid out through several movies making the audience fall in love with the characters, the story and in turn the franchise. 

      Recently DC has begun to start their own story, but not as smoothly. It is clear that the pathway that DC is taking is heavily influenced by what Marvel is doing. This is understandable because they are their competition.

     In this respect many audiences are shocked to see the darker DC movies that are being produced. Man of Steel and Batman vs Superman were both criticized for this amongst other things and received bad ratings from critics. This weight heavily on the movies that followed including a PG-13 Suicide Squad. 

     The problem with this is DC is a darker universe no matter what. Even looking at the DC main heroes to the Marvel counterparts and their backstories are a bit darker than Marvels. Batman vs Iron Man I rest my case. Trying to change this nature to be more like Marvel is hurting them greatly. Embracing the dark side and appealing to a different audience may be a way to start. 

    The other thing is the rush to put out movies and produce their Justice League movie when the story is not ready. Starting their series with the Man of Steel movie, the terrible Batman vs Superman and Suicide Squad makes for a very confusing start to the story of this universe. 

     Starting the universe that still has to produce JusticeLeague with an old man Bruce and I “dead” Superman is very hard to predict what you doing. 


     With Wonder Woman coming out and Justice League soon to follow we are hoping that DC pulls a few wins under their belt.

Wonder Woman and Feminism

With the recent release of the Wonder Woman movie, I only find it right to give a reason of why this is such a big deal.  Wonder Woman was created as a figure of the feminist move and has been fight for a spot on the big screen for years. She has been in comic since 1942 and this her only film on the big screen. As the figure of Feminism Wonder Woman has been through her ups and down in a world of men. Her outfit, origin, powers and equipment have all gone through changes because of this. Censorship and sexism is the only way to put it when talking about why this has happened.  Through the years some things have stayed the same for the most part. She is borne of the Amazon Hippolyta, queen of the Amazons. She was raised on Paradise Island and only left when her love interest Steve Trevor and learned of the unforgiving world that we live in. How To Get Start With Comics

As I continue to talk about comics and what is happening with the in the entertainment with them, I thought it would nice to help those of you who are just getting in to comics. In this post I will tell you my way of getting into comics.  1. First you want to pick a direct character.  Whether is be the Flash or Iron Man you need to pick a place of jumping into these stories. Most of the stories are intertwined with other characters and groups like Justice League and Avengers. Even though this may not be the only character you want to follow, its good to find a starting place because these stories have a lot of twist and turns. These comics have also been going on for a very long time and have changed with the times. So your character might have different people that take the name and you need to be specific on what or who you want to follow.
